NFV with Juniper OpenContrail and Ubuntu OpenStack: ODS Vancouver

Arguably, the pressure on carriers to find new and innovative ways to develop and deliver new, sticky services has never been greater. Wannabe service providers such as Google, Amazon and Netflix, are finding ever more nimble ways to design and launch innovative new services. It’s their ability to deploy thousands of new machines with an individual admin that is driving true simplification and automation – allowing them to move more quickly than their traditional telco rivals.
How can the telecoms community compete? Network Function Virtulisation (NFV) was created by the carrier community to take advantage of a lot of the lessons learned in the cloud; it provided a low-cost, commodity-based x86 hardware environment alongside a Linux OS and an array of virtualized services. Essentially, by enabling services in an automated way, NFV accelerates the revenue-earning potential for carriers without reinventing the wheel. NFV is also one of the key use cases for OpenStack.
Watch the above video to hear our VP of Alliances, John Zannos, and Jennifer Lin, CEO at Juniper Networks talk about how NFV is transforming the telecoms industry and about Contrail Cloud Platform, the joint carrier-grade OpenStack solution for telcos.
