Publication date 22 June 2015
Last updated 24 July 2024
Ubuntu priority
The kvm_apic_has_events function in arch/x86/kvm/lapic.h in the Linux kernel through 4.1.3 allows local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact by leveraging /dev/kvm access for an ioctl call.
From the Ubuntu Security Team
A flaw was discovered in the kvm (kernel virtual machine) subsystem's kvm_apic_has_events function. A unprivileged local user could exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service (system crash).
